KING KONG PUPPET

Oh my god, how fucking rad is this KING KONG puppet for Melbourne's Regent Theatre! It takes 10 on-stage and 3 off-stage puppeteers to breather bitchin' life to Kong!

Make sure you atleast watch the 2:00 mark - 'The Chase'!!

Now I'd love to see a puppet like this done with fur for a movie and then digitally remove the rig and operators, instead of going fully CG like Jackson did !! More like what Rick Baker did with Mighty Joe Young !

AMAZING! And proof that CGI isn't the end-all be-all. Wish I was in Melbourne to see it in person!

that's badass!

having said that, CGI > puppets.

puppets were old-school, and great for the time, but bitching about 3D and CGI is equal to snobby, stubborn people waaaaaaaaaaay abck when who would say:

"Color movies?!?! Going further away from stage productions?!?! WON'T WORK 'cause it sucks!!!"

...and we all know, when the smoke cleared, how that all went...

if it takes CGI to show us exactly, perfectly what we want to see, then use it. it's a tool, that's what you do with them.

*smh*
