DAREDEVIL

So it looks like Marvel has acquired back the rights to DAREDEVIL. If FOX had kept the rights, they were thinking about having Joe Carnahan ("The Grey") to direct it. Carnhahan wanted to do a 70s style action-exploitation take on the Man Without Fear. Here's a sizzle reel he put together to show his approach:

Hmmm... could have worked, but the 70s flair borders on parody.

giving it a 70's exploitation feel may just work.

yeah... my fear is it comes across as something akin to "Black Dynamite" (which is awesome in its own right). The music of that era/genre is used so much nowadays as parody, I'm not sure if he can escape that. Personally, when I think of Frank Miller's Daredevil (which is what he's going for), I think of mid-1980s (when "Born Again" was released), not the 1970s.

Personally I'm glad its not getting made with this "flavor". The sizzle reel comes off as cheesy and cheap. The movie could MAYBE get away with flash backs to the 70s but to do the whole movie like that would make it feel dated. The only character I can see Marvel doing this for AND getting away with it is Luke Cage.
